Vittal is well known for abstract landscape paintings that are inspired by his native village and his simple yet spiritually profound farmer’s life. He has been into his signature style of painting for about thirty years. His work is conspicuously laden with earth tones and seemingly rugged forms establishing an honest and strong link with the philosophy of the art. Born and raised in the lap of landscape deficient in water for the most part of the year, says Vitta, it is very hard for him to conceive his paintings in rich and bright colours. Although deprived of richness in colour, he says, his land is deep in the meaning and mystery. That is exactly the spiritual foundation to work of vittal Muppidy.
