A tender, deeply lined face of an elderly nun in a blue-striped hood looks out with gentle strength, while a flowing ribbon of bright blue sweeps down from her hood like a wave. At the bottom right, a small sleeping child rests on a striped crossing, safe and peaceful in the soft grey haze. A warm, glowing patch of orange and gold on the right balances the cool blues and greys. The painting celebrates the endless care and love of motherhood. Beautifully textured and full of emotion, it is a moving large canvas for homes, institutions and spaces of kindness.
