Three smiling boys with colourful, paint-like skin stand barefoot on a bright red floor, facing a video camera on a tripod. Above them hangs a worn, stained shirt printed with the national emblem, with red marks and drips running down the wall. The painting sets childhood joy and innocence against the gaze of media and society. Bold black, red and white contrasts, with fresh green tones on the boys, make the figures stand out. Rich in social comment yet full of warmth, this large 54 x 54 inch canvas is a powerful conversation piece for modern spaces.
